ada — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
Your tasks stay on your device. ada has no account system and no servers of its own — we never receive, store, or see what you write in it.
Two third parties are involved, and only for the things they do: Google AdMob serves the ads that keep ada free, and RevenueCat checks whether your ada Pro subscription is valid. Neither one receives your tasks. Both are described below.
What ada stores on your device
All of this is stored locally, in a database on your phone. It is never transmitted to us:
- Tasks, projects, areas, headings, checklists, tags, and notes
- Scheduled dates, deadlines, reminders, and repeat rules
- Your settings (language, theme, app-lock preference)
- Automatic local backups — the last 7 days, kept on your device only
You can export all of it to a file at any time (Settings → Export), and you can delete all of it by deleting the app.
Device permissions
ada asks for each of these only when you use the feature behind it. All of them are optional — the app works without any of them.
| Permission | What it's for | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | Task reminders and deadline alerts | No |
| Calendar | Show your events next to upcoming tasks, and add a task to your calendar | No |
| Microphone / Speech recognition | Turn what you say into task text | See note |
| Face ID / biometrics | Unlock ada when App Lock is on | No |
Speech recognition: depending on your device settings, your operating system (Apple or Google) may process voice input on its own servers. That processing is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. ada never stores or transmits your audio.
Biometrics: ada never sees your fingerprint or face data. The operating system only tells ada "authenticated" or "not authenticated".
Advertising (Google AdMob)
ada is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. To show ads, Google may collect and process:
- Device identifiers, such as the advertising identifier
- Approximate location, derived from your IP address
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
How Google uses this data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses data from sites or apps that use its services.
Your choices:
- On iOS, ada asks for App Tracking Transparency permission. If you decline, you still see ads — they're just non-personalized.
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, ada shows a Google-certified consent form before requesting ads. You can change your answer at any time under Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options.
- Anywhere, subscribing to ada Pro removes ads entirely.
We do not sell your data. Your task content is never shared with advertisers — it never leaves your device in the first place.
Subscriptions (ada Pro)
If you subscribe to ada Pro, the payment itself is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play. We never see your payment details.
To check that a subscription is genuine and still active, ada uses RevenueCat, which processes:
- An anonymous identifier that RevenueCat generates for your installation
- The purchase receipt issued by Apple or Google
- Your subscription's status, country, and renewal dates
RevenueCat does not receive your tasks or any other content from the app. Their handling of this data is described in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. We use RevenueCat precisely because ada has no server of its own: a subscription has to be verified somewhere trustworthy, and this keeps that check off your device without us building a backend that would see your data.
Children
ada is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Ads are requested with a general-audience content rating.
Your rights
Because your task data never reaches us, there is nothing on our side to export or erase — you already hold all of it, and deleting the app deletes it. For the data handled by Google and RevenueCat, use the choices described above (ATT, the consent form, or ada Pro), or contact us and we'll help.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top changes with it.
