Android video editor — project site (privacy policy & docs)
Last updated: April 17, 2026
VidKit is a mobile video editor available on Android and iOS. This policy explains what personal data the app processes and how, and applies equally to both platforms unless a section notes otherwise. The short version: your videos stay on your device; our ad partner (Google AdMob) may collect advertising identifiers and device information to serve ads.
VidKit itself does not collect, transmit, or store personal data. Projects, clips, and exports never leave your device through our code.
Our advertising partner Google AdMob may collect your advertising ID, device information, and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads — see Advertising below for details.
VidKit uses network access only to fetch ads through Google AdMob. It does not send any analytics, telemetry, or crash reports to our own servers.
On Android, the app declares the INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
permissions. On iOS, standard network access is used; no additional
permission prompts are required.
Your projects, imported media, and exported videos are stored exclusively in local app storage and system gallery locations you choose. They are never uploaded anywhere by VidKit.
VidKit requests microphone access at runtime and uses it only when you choose to record a voiceover. Audio files are written to local storage and never transmitted.
RECORD_AUDIO permission.NSMicrophoneUsageDescription prompt.VidKit reads videos and images that you explicitly pick through the
platform’s system media picker — Storage Access Framework on Android, and
PHPickerViewController on iOS. It does not scan or index your gallery in
the background.
VidKit displays ads through Google AdMob on both Android and iOS to support free development. When ads are served, AdMob and Google may access or collect:
Consent (EU / EEA / UK and other jurisdictions): On first launch, VidKit shows a consent form via Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Your choice controls whether personalised ads are requested; either way, AdMob must log impression delivery to serve ads at all.
iOS App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On iOS 14.5 and later, Apple additionally requires a system-level tracking prompt before any app can access the IDFA. If you decline, ads still appear but are non-personalised.

VidKit integrates the following third-party components:
No other third-party SDK collects or transmits data.
VidKit is not directed at children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes their child provided personal data (not applicable in the normal course of using VidKit — we collect none directly), please contact us so we can address the concern.
We may update this policy when features change (new ad formats, new integrations, etc.). The “Last updated” date above will always reflect the current version. Continued use of VidKit after changes constitutes acceptance.
For privacy-related questions or requests, please reach out to the developer through the App Store or Play Store listing page.
